We Can Do It Together!

by FaithHouseManhattan

We did it! With your support Faith House has been able
to envision and create a unique space where people with different
religious traditions come together for deeper understanding of the
faith,
practices, and culture of “the other.”  Understanding is powerful. It
evokes empathy, it motivates
us to defend others, it makes people dream, it inspires action.
Faith House is about understanding, and understanding affects
everything!

With your support, we have been learning from,
teaching, and networking with a
variety of leaders and communities in the city, around the country, and
the world who have
been encouraged by the work of Faith House.

Faith
House is the only organization I know of that
celebrates and shares the tenets of a variety of spiritual paths with
all who
come through the doors.  Their
programs educate, stimulate, entertain, and delight. Like a pebble in a
pond,
they create ever-growing circles of understanding and acceptance in
these strife-filled
times. ~ Marcia Kelly, Author of 100
Graces: Mealtime Blessings

Experiencing my neighbor’s faith has
inspired me to deepen
my own. ~ Russell Chin, Neurologist

As a member
of a minority faith, I often feel isolated.
Faith House feels like a teacher whose class you never want
to miss, a welcoming community. ~
Valerie H.F.

Faith
House is the down-to-earth, practical and personal
embodiment of what the so-called theological experts hold up as the
ideal of
interreligious dialogue: a place where people can explore the diversity
of
religions while cherishing the real differences of religions. ~ Paul Knitter, Paul Tillich Professor
of Theology, World Religions
and Culture at Union Theological Seminary, NYC

What We’ve Done
& How We’re Growing

Since our launch in September
2008, we have hosted 42 Living Room events led by a diverse range of
guest
hosts who are Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Zoastrian,
Lakotan, Buddist,
Atheist and leaders in the Interfaith Movement, young adults and wise
elders.

Faith House
Manhattan has grown to have a local community of leaders including our
Board of
Directors, “Kitchen Table” team of volunteers, Advisory Council,
hard-working staff and visionary donors.

In a broader online
community, 3,000
people are on our email lists and 300 in our Facebook Group.  Since
January 1, 2010,
we have had 7,500 unique visitors to our website from 123
countries/territories.

This Fall we are going into Year 3! We
are moving from strength to strength. And now is the time when we need
sustaining support from you who
understand how critical laboratories of interdependence such as Faith
House
really are in this times.

With your support, we are aiming to
raise $18,000 by Friday, June 4th to increase our capacity for growth, hire a Community Development Administrator (our second
part-time paid position), and fill our projected budget gap for 2010.
Imagine the difference we can make! If you
have been supporting us we need you to sustain your commitment. If you
have been watching us from a distance, now is the time to get
involved.
