With Peter Rollins

Music Isaac Everett

It is natural for us to look at other people’s beliefs and practices in light of our own and judge them accordingly. By doing this we stand over and above the other. But is it possible for us to create a space in which we turn this approach on its head. Placing ourselves beneath the beliefs and practices of another so as to come to a better understanding of ourselves? Join us as Peter explores the theory and practice of this idea through a sustained reflection upon a group he formed called the Evangelism Project (in which people go to listen to a variety of faith communities in order to be evangelised).
Peter Rollins has been praised as one of the most provocative and thoughtful theologians of our day. An author, lecturer and storyteller, he is renowned for his dynamic and winsome speaking. Rollins is also the founder of Ikon, a faith group that has gained an international reputation for blending live music, visual imagery, soundscapes, theater, ritual and reflection to create what they call ‘transformance art.’ Rollins received his PhD in Post-Structural thought from Queen’s College, Belfast. He is currently a research associate with the Irish School of Ecumenics at Trinity College in Dublin and is the author of the groundbreaking book How (Not) to Speak of God. His most recent work is entitled The Orthodox Heretic and Other Impossible Tales.

Isaac Everett is a musician, songwriter, and liturgist.
He is the
author of The
Emergent Psalter
, a commentary and setting of the
psalms for intimate worship, and has released two albums, available on
Proost, iTunes, and Rhapsody.  He is one of the founders of Transmission,
a Christian community in New York and is a graduate of Union
Theological Seminary.
