A Sabbath Poem (Budbill)

DILEMMA
~ by David Budbill

I want to be
            famous
so I can be
            humble
about being
            famous.

What good is my
            humility
when I am
            stuck
in this
            obscurity?

(from Good Poems, Selected and Introduced
by Garrison Keillor, Penguin 2002)

Now that's my kind of poem - speaks to the intensity of faith and fame - or even reality of faith in a modern world.
