About Faith House Launch Team

Who can join the Launch Team?

Anyone living in New York City metropolitan area committed to help prepare and execute an effective launch of the first FAITH HOUSE congregation in Fall 2008.

What is the time commitment?

We have been meeting as a group, once a month and communicating over a closed Google Group listserve. Our first priority is to remind ourselves of our vision, get updated and discuss the ways we can raise such a community uniquely suited for New York City. At this point, your commitment is not joining the new congregation or even agreeing to be a part of it long-term but solely to be a part of initial Launch Team. The function of the Launch Team will end the week after the launch day in Fall 2008.

What are our specific commitments from now until the launch date?

You are asked to:

1.  In spirit of your own faith and practice (such as prayer, meditation, journaling, conversation, service, activism), dwell on the promise and hope of Faith House Manhattan.

2.  Be engaged (relationally, practically, intellectually, spiritually) in the lives of people around you for the purpose of learning from them and inviting them to learn with you through the experience of establishing this Faith House congregation.

3.  Root yourself deeper into your own religion or worldview in order to strengthen as a person and find inner resources that can help you participate in healing the world with those who are different from you.

4.  Respond to the needs of “pre-natal” Faith House community as you are able with your talents, time, and financial resources.

Each person on the team would get involved more closely with two or three of the tasks listed above and help with the ideas for the others.  Within that framework, you can participate in any way you see fit.

How can I join?

Review Faith House Manhattan website then write an email to info@faithhousemanhattan.org and tell us a bit about yourself and your interest in Faith House project. We will then invite you to join Google Group where you can get all the information, post your comments and read the comments from everyone else.   

We trust you will not judge yourself to be too old, too young, too new in the group, too religious, too non-religious, too cynical, too liberal, too conservative, too anything. If you want to help, you are welcome to the team!
